I don’t remember much about my navigation through the net in 2003, but I can recall playing the puzzle game Samorost with unusual clarity. Its mood really resonated with me at the time, and I was amazed by the complexity and originality of the problem-solving methods it presented.
Now its creator has released Machinarium, which is just as engaging, challenging, and curious.

If you want to play the demo, be sure to set aside some stress-free time. Concentration is required.

(Side note: You see that attractive young man accepting his award in the promos on the home page? That’s my amazing boyfriend. <3)

I’ve been a mommy blogger addict off and on since 2004. At the moment, this is manifesting itself in frequent visits to Momversation, which hosts video conversations between mommy bloggers of note.
Among them is Dooce (Heather Armstrong), who has indirectly inspired me to talk about blogging in my undergraduate thesis, and even apply for my job at Automattic. Her honest use of the medium and subsequent success keep me passionate about the power of blogging.
I’m particularly in awe of her ability to be open about her experience with mental illness. The Momversation episode on depression (featuring another fave, Alice Bradley from Finslippy) is here.
You can find many others that are upbeat and funny in the episodes list.

I like full concentration needed game…
