MP3 of the Day: “Heart it Races” – Architecture in Helsinki
If you’re anything like me, at some point you’ve probably wondered what would happen if the future offspring of MIA and a member from Animal Collective went to Jamaica to make a song with his or her friends.
It could have been a beautiful pairing, but, alas, Avey Tare chose to go in a calmer, more ethereal direction by marrying and producing an album with Mum’s Kria Brekkan, and MIA is reportedly dating DJ and producer Diplo.
So Architecture in Helsinki has successfully taken on the task of emulating the tunes that would be produced by the child of a fiery Sri Lankan rapper and tripped-out American while on a Reggae vacay. Which is to say that they’ve come out with an intensely upbeat pop rock song with semi-psychedelic vocals and a touch of booty-shakin’ world music beats: “Heart it Races.”

Cathy, David and I were surfing You Tube and I wanted to know them the vid for “We Share Our Mother’s Health.” We ended up on “Heart it Races” and David INSISTED that it was The Knife, or a cover of a knife song. Googling the idea resulted in this PopJustice article which compared the song to The Knife covering MIA’s Sunshowers, “while drunk on margaritas at a street carnvial.”

to bring this from the depths of the internet to where it may have hidden itself, i just heard ‘heart it races’ for the first time and immediately assumed it was a knife cover! it is so awesome.
i found this by searching for ‘heart it races’ and ‘the knife’ and was pleasantly rewarded to know someone else too believes it sounds like the knife. AIH are awesome nonetheless!

It kinda sounds almost too like the knife. Has anyone taken the time to look for any copied pieces from the knife tracks?
